Use or make a better modpack that isn't such a memory hog and too-easy-to-crash. All The Mods runs better than Labori.

I'm sad you had that experience I run it just fine else I would have changed it. Are you sure that you have given it more then 1 GB of RAM cause there have been an issue with Java 32 bit it's just I can run it at 4 GB of Ram though I chose to run it at 5 and have never crashed. I can try to debug if you want?
