We are not the sever where you can earn your freedom in 20 minutes.

When you arrive at Processing you have only the clothes on your back. You chop wood in the Ashgrove yard until you can afford a stone pick, and then you progress through six cell blocks: copper, iron, gold, emeralds, and finally the diamond mine in Frostmere. Each block has its own mine, shop, kitchen and cells, and you can take one of those cells as your own. Just don't get too attached to what you keep in it, because of the guards. They aren't NPCs; they are players who have already got out and have decided to come back and wear the uniform. They can search you, throw your cell into disarray, cuff you and lock down the whole prison. If you're caught with contraband you can hand it over quietly... or refuse to and then a fight breaks out.

The others who escaped went the other way. The Rebels run a smuggling operation from a cove on the coast and manage to get goods back in for anyone who is willing to pay. People say there's a black market somewhere beneath your feet. You'll eventually come across it.

There's plenty to do on a day-to-day basis. You can take a prison job (as cook, medic, in the laundry, or as the janitor with the mop), carry out your daily work orders, start a gang with a shared bank, settle a grudge in the Pit while the yard bets on who walks away, or put a bounty on someone who truly deserves it.

When you have saved $100,000 you can leave through the Freedom Gate. After that you choose a path: you can take on the badge, join the smugglers, start your own faction, or go into the free world, build a homestead and try to forget that the place even exists. Nobody really does.

There's no pay-to-win in any form: the store sells things like name colors, armor dyes and trims, but nothing that gives you an advantage. And secondly, you can't buy your way out with real life money. A friend who has already been freed can't pay your sentence on your behalf either. You have to earn it.
