The power to choose. To decide if you want to be a merchant, a scribe, or a bandit; an architect, an assassin, or a lawyer. You see, the roleplaying servers I've seen have all been fairly straightforward; pick a role - usually merchant/guard/miner/etc - and stick with it. /me everything. Don't break character. At LanceCraft, we don't really use /me. We don't have 'characters'... and we do NOT - and never will - have predefined 'roles' for players to fill. We've designed LanceCraft to be... let's call it "roleplay by action". If you want to be a merchant, you can go ahead and save up some money, buy a plot of land, and stock your shop... if you're a good salesman, you'll make a tidy profit. If you want to be a guard, you can offer your services to a ruler of a kingdom. If you want to be a bandit, you can live in the wild, preying upon the unsuspecting passersby. Whatever it is you wish to do, you DO it... and it's that power to choose that makes LanceCraft truly unique.

Now, because I know bulleted lists are much better at attracting attention than paragraphs, here's a short list of some of the things LanceCraft has to offer:
  • A completely player-regulated economy
  • Player ruled and run kingdoms
  • A custom PvP battleground plugin, with more to come
  • And, perhaps most of all... potential.

Yes, potential. LanceCraft, in its current state, is not all it can be - or even all people expect it to be. Why not? Well, simply put, we need more players; and we need intelligent ones who are willing to stick around. The aforementioned goal simply demands a (to be frank) huge server population. I have faith that it's possible, or I wouldn't be posting this - but all I ask is that you have faith as well. I mean, don't get me wrong - the framework for everything mentioned above is there, just waiting for players, and the server is really quite developed - we just don't have the population to truly support the dream.

Okay, so, this didn't end up being the super-awesome promotional ad I had originally intended - in fact, it's more of a personal letter - but I still hope it'll get your attention and make you consider hopping on. If you have any questions or comments, email me at w8@lance-craft.com; and while you're at it, check out (and perhaps like) our Facebook page.

Thanks, everyone. See you on the other side!

LanceCraft (finally) updated to 1.4.7! : by whizkid8888 01/18/2013 11:12:32 amJanuary 18, 2013 @ 4:12 pm UTC

Welcome - it's our first post in the new year, and it's about time!
The Bukkit team has finally done what they do best and released a Beta Build for 1.4.7. I've updated the server, and everything seemed to go pretty smoothly, but if you run into any hiccups, email me at w8@lance-craft.com, and I'll see what I can do.
Thanks - I'll see you on the other side!
