QUICK START by dlmarti (thanks mate!)
First, understand that no one is going to help you.
In fact most people are going to take whatever they can from you, choose your friends carefully.
You start this world with 150 silver. I cannot emphasize enough, that you need to conserve this money. Once you are down to zero silver it is hard to get flying again.
Your number one goal, on your first few hours of play, is to get to safety. While the Port Dawn (the spawn port) is technically safe from PVP, you are still very vulnerable there.
Rules to live by:
#1: Conserve your cash.
#2: Keep your current location secret.
#3: Pick your friends carefully.
#4: Join or found a good faction as soon as you can.
Recommend steps, for your first few hours:
#1: Purchase 15 wool, and 3 logs, thats 81 silver (over half your money gone already!!!).
#2: Go to the build docks (in the west part of port).
#3: Build the basic ship (using 12 wool and 2 of your logs), see the design near port.
#4: Take your remaining log and make planks and one set of sticks.
#5: Step onto your ship and type "/boat pilot"
#6: Look in the direction you want to go (holding one of your sticks), and right click.
#7: Fly away from port, and find a safe place to hide.
#8: Use your remaining wool to make a bed, and set your spawn.
#9: Dismantle your boat, and hide the wool in a chest until you need it.
Things to remember:
#1: The server is full PVP, with stealing. Until you get into a faction you have very little protection. HIDE HIDE HIDE
#2: You make silver by selling stuff to the bank, or to players. The bank will buy: Cooked Pork, Wooden Planks, Cooked Steak, Bookshelves, Leather, and Gold Ingots. You can also make silver by killing mobs.
#3: Stealing ships in Port Dawn, is NOT ALLOWED. Stealing ships outside of Port Dawn, IS allowed.
#4: Mining from your ship can be very profitable, but make sure no one sees you.
#5: Type "/movecraft types" to see other airship types. Boats are very slow, upgrade when you can.
