Minespark is an established US/AU server, now open for applications!
First some background:
We want this server to be your go-to place for some casual minecrafting and conversation. Minespark is run by mature adults, if you're a mature adult; we doubly encourage you to apply below. Minespark is almost 18 months old. The server admins have run two Minecraft servers over the last three years and so far haven't died from exhaustion. We're all in our mid-twenties.
The server is physically hosted in Pheonix, with a largely meshed Australian / American player base. We have a tight knit community that often hangs out in IRC, Razer Comms, or Google Hangouts (not compulsory, of course. We just like to hangout.)
Whitelist:
- Minespark is now whitelisted. We've got forum threads on most popular forums for applications, as well as our forum at forum.minespark.net/
- Almost all reasonable applications will be accepted. You just need to show a clear level of maturity. While it won't make or break you, we're likely to google usernames and check your other forum posts to make sure you're not secretly a troll or mass-banned.
- We also accept "add my friend to the whitelist" requests, when accompanied by appropriate manners. Even more likely when you've been around for a while.
Application guidelines:
Whatever information you deem relevant. We don't care what gender or race you are. Your age has very little baring as well, if you carry yourself well in chat. We won't outline a format for applications. Maybe write something about your playstyle, which of our worlds you're likely to be hanging out in most, what you do for work ( if it's interesting :D ). Don't forget to add your minecraft username!
Rules:
We haven't actually changed the rules in years now.
- Be respectful towards others.
- Watch your language, although there's no need for a thousand players to all say "LANGUAGE!" when someone slips up.
- Avoid using all caps, unless for emphasis. Even then, use sparingly. There's no need for a thousand players to all say "CAPS!" when someone slips up.
- Employ common sense.
- Only grief in the griefing worlds. Only PvP in the PvP worlds.
- Don't spread lava across the server just because you can. You. Will. Be. Banned.
Enforcement:
We enacted the whitelist to cut the trend of players who are best described as "derpy" joining en masse. If you're doing anything that actively degrades the experience of other players, then you're out. Simple as that. No appeals, we don't require a warning anymore. (Don't stress, you'd have to be stupid not to know that you're doing it).
We also use CoreProtect. Which allows us to roll a player back off the face of the server. Every block placed, every fire started, every bucket tipped. If someone griefs you, don't fix it. Tell a Mod or Admin; we'll roll them back (thus fixing the grief) and ban them. I want to emphasise that we really have no tolerance for that sort of thing.
In the short future (i'm writing this plugin) you'll be able to protect regions yourself in the Creative and Survival worlds. In the mean time, Moderators and Admins can create regions for you. This will only be done for complex, complete builds. CoreProtect snugly suits the needs of general play.
Worlds:
We've retired all past worlds. If you would like a copy, we're able to zip them up and provide a link (although at over 150gb, we'd rather not). As of today there are four main worlds that represent the most popular styles of play. These worlds are:
- Spawnia: Central hub world. You spawn here when you first join. Contains portals to the other worlds. MasterBuilders can build here.
- Survival: Survival mode gameplay. PvP discouraged, protection available, /sethome and similar commands made available.
- Creative: Creative mode gameplay. Yes, you get full Creative mode. Liquids and Spawn Eggs will be restricted to Builder rank.
- Volatile: Mindcrack style Ultra Hardcore gameplay. PvP encouraged, your health does not regenerate naturally. There are no homes, no teleportation commands. Health can only be gained by eating Golden Apples or using Health/Regeneration potions. Eventually with a deathcount scoreboard, and chests that explode on death.
- TNT Partyworld: Coming back soon. :D
Ranks:
Ranks are now super simple. As per usual; if you want a rank, don't ask us. We'll bump you up when we feel it is appropriate. The new ranks are as follows:
- Default: Fresh entrants to the server
- Regular: Same permissions as default, you just get the recognition.
- Builder: Showing some level of building skill. Can use liquids, spawn eggs.
- MasterBuilder: Has permissions required to build in the Spawnia world. Held in high regard.
- Survivor: Play a lot of survival. Gives you recognition.
- Hardcore: Play (and win) a lot of UHC - not effective until per-world scoreboards come in.
- Moderator: All of the power, none of the fun - Can ban, etc.
- Admin: MrSm1lez, MrSuds, JustTess. Not negotiable. :-)
Miscellaneous notes:
- We don't accept donations under any circumstances.
- While we appreciate you spreading the word about the server, we don't offer in game incentives for it.
- The server is guaranteed to be in place for years to come.
- No. We won't Op you. It takes a considerable amount of time to become a Mod. Typically months of active play, and being helpful towards other players.
- MrSm1lez is a DJ. MrSuds (hey, thats me!) is a Game Developer / Software Engineer. JustTess is a Housewife / Vet Nurse.
