Rootbound — A New Kind of Farming and Progression Server

Rootbound is a custom progression-focused Minecraft server built for players who enjoy farming, gathering, exploring, building, and slowly turning ordinary survival into something much bigger.

At its core, Rootbound still feels like Minecraft. You can build a home, start a farm, explore the world, gather resources, trade with other players, and play at your own pace. What makes the server different is the large collection of custom systems layered into that familiar experience.

Custom Progression

Nearly everything you do helps your character grow.

Level up skills such as Mining, Farming, Fishing, Woodcutting, Combat, Cooking, Smithing, Alchemy, Excavation, and more. Skill milestones unlock Talent Points, giving you access to randomized Talents that can improve the way you gather, fight, move, and progress.

Complete missions, increase your total skill level, meet playtime requirements, and climb through a long series of server ranks. Every rank comes with new goals, rewards, and progression milestones.

Rootbound Tools

Players earn their own personalized Rootbound Tools, including a Pickaxe, Axe, Shovel, Hoe, and Sword.

These tools collect unique Fragments as you use them. Spend those Fragments to improve stats such as Efficiency, Fortune, and Fragment Collection Rate. Your tools evolve through multiple material stages as their upgrade lines grow, eventually reaching Diamond and Netherite.

Mastery and Talents

The Mastery system tracks your long-term progress with crops, ores, lumber, animals, monsters, and other resources. The more you work with something, the more rewarding it can become.

Talent Points are earned through skill milestones. Spend them to choose from randomized Talents and create a build that fits the way you play.

Missions and Ranks

Use /mission to receive objectives that grow more challenging as you progress. Missions can involve gathering, farming, combat, exploration, and other survival activities.

Use /rankup to view your next rank and everything required to reach it. Rootbound has a long progression path designed to reward consistent play without forcing everyone into the same activity.

Player Economy

Gather resources and sell them through the custom economy.

Use /sell to place selected items into a selling menu, or use /sellall to automatically sell every eligible item in your inventory. Use /prices to browse the value of ores, crops, fish, logs, food, mob drops, building materials, and more.

Higher rank tiers improve your selling prices. Players can also check their balance with /bal, send money with /pay, and compete for the highest balance on /baltop.

Voting Rewards

Support the server through /vote and receive a reward for every successful vote:

Vote Reward Chests can contain diamonds, ingots, experience bottles, useful building blocks, rare materials, enchanted books, and other randomized rewards.
