Rules:
Do NOT Grief!
We define griefing as the modification of any structure or property that doesn't belong to you without the the explicit permission of the owner.
Examples:
Breaking any existing player-placed blocks that aren't yours.Placing new blocks on an existing structure not owned by you.Vandalizing another players marked off land.Breaking or placing blocks to get into someone else's structure. For example:Towering with blocks, ladders, trees, etc.Tunneling under a wall or through a roof/floor.Placing a lever, button, etc. to gain access.Building over a structure to drop down into it.
Exceptions
Natural caves/mines cannot be owned, so they cannot be griefed. However, structures built within these caves are still the property of whoever built them.If you tunnel into an underground structure, we realize that it's not your fault. Fix it as best as you can (or tell a mod if you can't), and leave.Crops out in the open are fair game if you don't have to grief to get to them.
Notes
Make sure to read the Property Rules for more details on territory and build restrictions. Notably:Do not build within 5 blocks of an existing player-built structure.Do not build a structure that surrounds or encloses an existing structure (that you don't own).If you say you are going to grief or say you have in the past, it is an admission of guilt.Associating with any griefing team is an immediate ban.We log all block changes on our server, so don't bother trying to talk your way out of trouble.Use common sense. When in doubt, ask!
Be Courteous and Respect All Other Players
We are all here to have a good time, and disrespecting the other players on our server ruins that. Avoid being rude to others, and respect their feelings and beliefs.
Do not swear directly at or do anything to insult other players.Do not make derogatory comments based on the race, sex, religion, etc. of other players. If a player is legitimately offended by your words/actions, stop.Again, use common sense. We shouldn't have to explain this.
Respect Staff and Their Decisions
Our staff are here to help keep peace on the server, so please cooperate with them and let them do their job.
Respect, listen to, cooperate with, and obey staff.Do not argue with our staff members. Staff decisions aren't debatable, they are final.Do not ask staff for things like items, teleports, or ranks. They won't give them to you.If a staff member gives you an answer, don't keep asking other staff the same question.
If you feel like you are being abused by our staff, or you think they're doing something wrong, always feel free to let us know on our site.
Do Not Use Client Mods To Gain An Unfair Advantage
Any mod that gives you the ability to cheat game mechanics or otherwise gain an advantage over players without it is not allowed.
Examples
Flying, speed hacks, or anything that increases movement abilities.X-ray, see-through textures, or anything designed to find ores or any specific block type.Maps that label and reveal the location of players and/or mobs (entity radars).Anything that assists aim or auto hits players/mobs in combat.
Notes
If you are unsure about whether a client mod breaks this rule or not, ask a staff member! We run plugins that detect and help prevent the usage of banned client mods, so don't think you won't get caught!
Approved Client Mods
If it's not on this list, ask a staff member to make sure it's not in violation of our rules.
HD TexturesIncluding: HD Font, Better Grass, Random Mobs, Custom Colors, Connected Textures, Better SkiesModLoaderOptifineRei's Minimap
Do Not Exploit Bugs/Glitches
Bugs still pop up in Minecraft from time to time, and abusing them in any way is not allowed.
Any form of item duplication will result in trouble for all involved.Do not log in from multiple accounts at the same time.Do not log in/out in order to find things as chunks load.
Chat Rules
In order to keep chat orderly, we ask that you follow these rules. Note that these apply to communication on any service we provide (the Minecraft server, Teamspeak server, and all parts of the Shadowcave website).
Offensive Language
While foul language is permitted on the server, we ask that you do not use it towards other players or in excess.
Do not violate any rules listed under Be Courteous and Respect All Other Players. If someone asks you to stop because it is offending them, stop.

Do not advertise other servers, whether by name, IP address, or website URL.Do not advertise any outside product or service without permission from staff.
Arguments and Debates
Please refrain from posting arguments with individuals in public channels. Work it out in private.Debating over a topic is fine as long as it stays non-aggressive. If it gets out of hand, you will be asked to end it or take it to a private channel.
Other

Banned Items
The following items are banned on our server. They are blocked from use and may be confiscated with no compensation.
TNTLighters
Ender Pearls are also blocked from use, but may be possessed for the purpose of crafting.
Other
If you are banned, do not attempt to use another account to evade the ban.
Property Rules
Build Restrictions
Other Player Structures/Property
Do not build within 10 blocks of an existing player-built structure.Do not build a structure that surrounds or encloses an existing structure (that you don't own).
Offensive Structures
Do not build offensive or obscene structures.Do not place signs with offensive, explicit, or derogatory content.
Automatic Farms
Any farming method that is completely automated with no player interaction involved is not allowed.
The most common example is an automatic cactus farm that forces the cacti to break at a certain height. Don't build one!If it involves activating a redstone contraption (by pushing a button, etc.) to harvest the crops, that's perfectly fine.
Mob Grinders
Though you may build and use a mob grinder, it cannot be designed to move or damage the mobs without player interaction.
Claiming Territory
Marking Off Land
Any land claims should be clearly marked. You must build a border around land you wish to claim. This can be any block, as long as it doesn't blend in with the natural surroundings (no sand border in a desert, for example). If you do want to use a material natural to the area, you can, but you must build a wall at least 3 blocks high.Do not claim a large amount of land if you do not plan on actually using it.
Homes and Towns with Multiple Residents
If other people live with you or have permission to edit your property, we highly recommend placing signs on the property that indicate this. This makes it easier for our staff to confirm if griefing took place or not.
Evictions
If you give a player permission to live with you (in your house or town), you cannot kick them out without fair warning. You must give them a reasonable amount of time to pack up and leave.Anything you let them build or store still belongs to them, they must be allowed to take it with them. You must allow them to leave without attacking them (unless they initiate combat). If you are unsure how to go about this, ask a member of staff!
Stealing
Unlocked Containers Are Fair Game
If a chest, furnace, or other container is unlocked, and you don't have to grief to get to it, you can take items from it.
It is griefing to break any block to access the containerYou can not take the container, as that would also be griefing.
Naturally Generated Structures
NPC Villages
The same griefing and property rules that apply to player structures apply to NPC villages. You can still harvest crops and loot chests.
Strongholds, Nether Fortresses, Temples, and Abandoned Mines
These can all be looted and modified. However, they cannot be claimed or owned.
PVP Rules
Though PvP is a part of Minecraft, and it can certainly be a part of roleplay, we have a few limitations in place to prevent abuse and harassment.
Do Not Use PvP As a Means of Harassment
After killing a player twice in a row, it is harassment to continue unless it is self defense. If you attack and/or provoke the player first, it is not self defense. This limit resets every day (real time).Do not make threats to keep killing someone unless they take a specific action (pay you money, for example).Do not repeatedly target the same player(s) over a period time without a good reason (see next rule). This is another rule where we ask that you use common sense. Before you attack a player, ask yourself if your action could be considered as harassment.
No Excessive RDMing
RDMing (Random Deathmatching) refers to randomly attacking/killing players without a solid reason or any RP context.
Though you're still free to attack whoever you'd like (within the rules), do not RDM excessively.Do not excessively attack players who have no intention of fighting back.If the main reason you're here is to PvP, this may not be the server for you.
Other PvP Restrictions
Do not camp outside of a PvP disabled area. Also, do not attack a player from inside a PvP disabled area, or run into one to get out of active combat.Do not log out or use a command to teleport away during active combat.Do not push an AFK player out of a PvP disabled area in order to kill them.Do NOT kill server staff. Also, do not kill players that staff are currently dealing with.If you continue to go back to an area where you know PvP is taking place, you are agreeing to participate, and the two kill rule doesn't apply to those attacking you.Do not lure a player into your house or onto your land to kill them.
Plugin-Specific Rules
LWC
Do not protect any chests, doors, or other blocks that do not belong to you.Do not place/protect chests on property that is not yours (this counts as griefing).
Roleplay
Rule Exemptions
In the context of a legitimate RP*, it is possible for certain rules to be considered void. These include:
These griefing rules: Breaking/placing blocks, tunneling, and towering. These property rules: The 10 block rule and evictions. These PvP rules: The two kill rule and threats.
*An RP is considered legitimate if and only if all players involved in it or affected by it are in agreement with what happens.
Don't try to abuse this. If what you do affects a player who doesn't want to be involved, it counts as breaking the rules.
Additional Terms
You are responsible for what happens under your account. Saying it was someone else on your account is not accepted as an excuse for broken rules. We reserve the right to change these rules at any time, with or without notice. However, we will try and notify players when changes occur. All rules are open for interpretation by any staff present at any time. Obey these interpretations unless otherwise informed.
Any violation of these rules or other terms may result in: Temporary jailing in-game, rank demotion, temporary/permanent banning, and/or other repercussions.
TL;DR: Read the rules or don't bother playing on our server.
