Ranks and permissions are based upon the creative world. In general, ranks will be earned by proving your skills as a builder and your dedication to the server.
For creative, this entails how easy it is to access building materials and your mobility. You will start with full build rights and access to many kits of building materials. You may set multiple named homes, use warps (set by mods), teleport to other players (in creative). Only a few easily abused blocks have been restricted. The creative world has most damage disabled, moderate health regeneration, long days, and restricted fire and lava movement - among other things. Prove yourself as a regular and you will gain access to magic carpet and the item command, to give yourself all but the most restricted items. (Flying checks have also been disable for regulars in the creative world.) Stick around, impress the Mods and Admin, and you may earn VIP status. This gives you basic WorldEdit tools, further increased home limits, and fewer block restrictions.
Initial build rights ARE restricted in the creative world ('world' and 'nether'. /mvtp will take you freely between these worlds). You must post a request on our forums to gain build access here. This is NOT the case in survival.
The survival world is easily accessed from creative via "/mvtp surv". In survival, damage is fully enabled. Fire, lava, and all such things will propagate and spread naturally. PvP is enabled. Teleports are disabled and home commands and spawn are restricted or have a use cost. There are two skill plugins in effect. One will limit your access to quality tools, though you can level this fairly quickly. The second will improve most things that you do. From gaining movement speed, item drops, decreasing your fall damage, to increasing the effectiveness (and range) of explosives.
Survival has an economy. Near to spawn is AdminShop where you can sell (primarily) gold as well as a few other items for money (and also buy rare or unobtainable blocks). There is also a small bounty for killing monsters. Killing monsters will also award you with quests which will also award money when completed. Towns (which require money to maintain) are run by the Lords (VIPs and Mods must create these) -- though Peasants can also obtain towns at a high price -- and offer a level of protection for their members. Warzones add a fun way to PvP and grant gold rewards. The Hell world, while risky and dangerous, can be highly profitable. Periodic nightly Hunts accentuate monster-killing and multiply the profits.
