I'm going to assume this server must be run by children. I don't mind jokes, but when I plan to invest my time in building on a server, I want to know that my builds are secure, my XP isn't going to be lost due to jokes or whatever else and that I will stay where I leave myself and not be messed around. I didn't find that security on this server. Luckily I didn't get as far as building anything.
If you're young, you may enjoy this server. One of the mods offered to build me a farm so there are some friendly people, but if you're older or wanting to build big, you'll probably want to give this one a miss.

Bringing up the specific situation you spoke of, some of the staff and I had found a potion that could in fact kill anything with one hit. While I was in possession of the potion I decided to see what the online players were up to. After teleporting to you, I noticed you were AFK. It was not my intention to cause any harm to any players and instead play a harmless joke. Furthermore, while you were online, the gamerule 'keepInventory' was set to true so any XP that you had gathered or any items were not affected.
It is not common that a practical joke like this would happen on the server. I know I can speak on behalf of the whole staff board when I say this: We take player respect very seriously and when we make mistakes, because every human does, we apologize because we know how it feels to be treated without respect.
