I am not big on grief, and feel that everyone's builds should be protected, which is why everyone can claim their own areas using a gold shovel. It's perfect for preventing thievery, destruction, and the like. You can also lock your chests, doors, and other storage areas with a sign. Simple as that, you are safe!

VeryVanillaMC is a Semi-Vanilla server with some protections, teleports, and a shop, while maintaining a mostly default minecraft feel.
Griefprevention - Claim and protect land.
Lockette - Claim and protect chests, doors, and more.
Warps - Warp the the hot spots.
Sethome - Set a home, and teleport back to it.
Dynmap - Live map of the world showing player locations and chat in real time.

Survival Shop Build Contest
So far, VvMc only has a small
shop near spawn with only a few items. I challenge players to build a
shop that will be for the players to use and the best shop will be
chosen.
Winner of this challenge will get 1 month free donor and 30 diamonds.
Second place will receive 15 diamonds and 2 weeks donor.
Third place will receive 5 diamonds and a week donor.
Once you have completed your build,
take screenshots, and post them on the contest build post of the forums.
Have fun, and may the odds fair on your side!
