What would happen if, lets say, half the world disapeared over the course of two days?

March 1st, 2050
Reporter for CNN: We have what looks like an abduction, its been 1 day, and it hasn't stopped. Over 2 of 8 billion people have been taken. We have no rhyme or reason whats happening. Of course, half of our brilliant scientists have vanished, so its going to take a while. In other, *A large crackling sound appears and the camera falls facing the reporter.
Reporter: SAM! No! NOT SAM! *Crying ensues and the feed cuts off.
Global panic ensues, as the vanishings continue until the next day.
Curiously, it stops right at 12:00 PM on the second day.
People are scared, riots ensue everyone's trying to hide themselves...
MARCH 2nd 2050
The whole thing just stops. Everyone in the world is baffled.
MARCH 5th 2050
Then the most amazing thing happened. Everyone returned. Right in the same place that they were taken. But, returning took a huge price. Everyone had some sort of genetic dissodidity. Some people now had udders, from being crossed with a cow, some with a dog, now had a tail. 1 in every 2 people were different.
Matt here, Matt was different. He returned a day after he was abducted. And oddly enough, he had THE GREAT ABDUCTION IS GOOD, written on the back of his right elbow. He was taken in for questioning.
Chief: All right Matt. What happened.
Matt: Well, I was swimming at our local pool, and then I felt this dizziness, and this massive headache. A sat on the stairs in the pool and I guess I fainted. I don't know what happened. I woke up in a massive gray room. There must have been 50 other people there. They were talking and whispering about that I had just Appeared.
Matt: Then, a pair of guards went in. They were human-like, except for the fact that they wore complete black clothing and they had no head. They touched me and I just fainted. Next thing I know I wake up in the pool again, with these bandages and bloody scars.
Chief: Thank you Matt
Over the course of the next 50 years, people had learned to cope with these new mutants. (It did help that the prime minister was now had an extra arm, and the President now had wings.)
