You ever think about how Pitch was CREATED to be a nightmare? He didn't choose to be terrifying, and when he faded into myth, he felt desperate because he was no longer serving his only purpose, and by extension, able to do the one thing he was good at?

OMG absolutely, I think about that a lot, as well as the fact that not only did he despise sandman and jack in a parallel sense, but because they're so similar yet pitch manages to be seen as the bad one. Though he was created to do THAT. It's not like he chose to be a nightmare. (Another thing I love is the unique way his strength grows, not just by believers, but fear. cool little thing ig for him)
