Lucky was just another junkyard dog in a far-future pick-a-part for robots and battle mechas until he suffered a catastrophic accident. Fortunately, his owner (Curtuss Wasteman, DVM) was not only a skilled cybernetic engineer, but had training as a veterinary surgeon (veterinary medicine just isn't for everyone, you know?) He was able to use scrap metal and discarded devices to fashion a new front leg and three new paws for Lucky, along with an eye that allows him to see in infrared and detect wireless transmitters. He even has wheels! He can stand on his hind legs and roll down desert highways with ease. What about those little blue beacons on his tail, you say? those are part of his antenna and locating system! Now he can find Curtuss anywhere, even if he's at the diner! The antenna allows him to call Curtuss and ask if he'll be bringing home a doggy bag anytime!
Lucky was always a smart boy, but brain augments made to help him interface with his various new parts have greatly boosted his intelligence (lift his helmet layer to see his brain outfitted with fancy gold circuitry integrated with his cybernetic parts). While most dogs have a good understanding of tone and even certain words, he is able to understand and speak human language quite well. His former pastimes of sniffing out valuable metals in exchange for treats have made him well suited to rescue missions and reconnaissance... He's even bargained to be paid regular wages like any other search-and-rescue team member. Through his duties he's gained the moniker B.E.S.T. Boy, which stands for Bionic Exoskeleton Search Team. He isn't all work - our good boy also enjoys blackjack, tinkering, and papercraft, enabled by the dexterity of his new mechanical paws.
