Barbara Gordon is the daughter of Gotham Police Commissioner Gordon, who was ordered by her father to NOT join the police force. So she adopted the alter-ego of Batgirl! After about a year of being a superhero, she received a surprise visit from the clown prince of crime, The Joker! Who upon opening the door, shot and paralyzed her from the waist down. It was during this time when she adopted a second alter-ego as Oracle. After a while she tried an experimental surgery and recovered the use of her legs.
