I have a few tips, if you want to hear them. :P
The hair that covers the eyes (bangs) looks best in the hat layer, imo.
If you make the eyes lower, you can see more of them through the bangs. I put mine one pixel from the bottom of the head.
There are tons of great shading tutorials on pmc that can make an okay skin amazing.
