The outbreak was sudden, unexpected. The British government was caught completely unprepared by the disease. The Rage Virus, as it had been dubbed, was evident in monkeys, but the results when unleashed on humans: catastrophic; It made people go insane, lose all their humanity, all they cared for, and become savage cannibals. Contact with their blood resulted in rapid infection. Within days, Britain was completely overrun. The government had fallen. The military was destroyed. 28 days after the outbreak, the streets lay completely empty except for the infected.

And then, after 28 weeks, most of the infected died out from hunger. The American Army, willing to assist their British allies in cleaning up the after-effects, established a quarantine zone and began allowing evacuated people back into the area. What they did not expect, though, was that the virus was still alive in a carrier; and that the blunder of one man who loved his wife would kill hundreds and start the outbreak once more.
