i like to move back and forth with the hues of my palettes, they're kind of all over the place haha.. what i do is start out with a base color; like you said with the cloak -- I picked a dark gray with a little bit of blue in it. then when picking brighter shades I moved towards green on the color wheel, then towards blue/purple, and back to green. the same pattern goes for the darker shades. i try to adjust the saturation and brightness of the colors too so they look cohesive and smooth together, bc changing the hues can make some colors stick out too much.
