The Bright Eater

Originally the handiwork of a cunning light mage, the Bright Eater was intended as an magical construct to house vast quantities of light magic. Woefully, the Bright Eater fell into the clutches of a wicked dark mage. His ignoble tinkering would corrupt the Bright Eater of its original purpose. Now a husk of its former self, the Bright Eater was cursed to perpetually consume light energy throughout the realm.
It's unsatiated hunger would drive the Bright Eater wild, leading to the eventual death of its master. Uncontrolled and unhinged, the Bright Eater would roam the land, gorging itself on light energy and sowing devastation where it went.
