Errak froze almost completely while his complex scales adapted to take on the colors about him, his articulated eyes ultimately being the only part of his slender form that he allotted movement. The seemingly empty holes peered out in various directions, scanning his surroundings carefully, then, after satisfied that he was in no immediate danger, he stealthily scampered toward the nearest tree and gracefully darted up its thick, dark trunk. Once high enough that he would elude the sight of any passerby beneath, he slinked outward along a sturdy branch to attain his bearings.

With muffled breaths, he gazed down and his sensitive, black eyes spotted a distant figure lurking about the edge of a fairly close clearing in the forest. His wide mouth curved up into a sadistic grin while he reached for his dual daggers slung about his thin hips. Perfect, he thought to himself, That's got to be him.

The dark stranger stumbled fearfully, approaching Errak's tree, his cloaked face protruding faintly from the burgundy robes that curtained the burnt sienna fur covering his feline features. The cat's whiskers trembled in the night while his piercing, emerald eyes stared forward diligently. Terror was evident in his slitted irises.

Errak waited patiently until the feline prey raced below his branch, where the adept assassin lunged from his perch, hurling his tiny body at the ocelot beneath him. His two daggers dug mercilessly into the cat's flesh, eventually piercing both lungs simultaneously. As if in slow motion, Errak unsheathed his weapons from the hooded mammal's unprotected back, returned them to their short scabbards, leaped into the evening air, flipping fluidly, and landed softly upon his four-toed feet. He exhaled silently, then forced his skin to camouflage into the landscape while he dashed into the night with the power of soundlessness and invisibility.
