War time, trench warfare..

The rain pecked at his visor.. small streams of water dripped off the tip into a pool of blood, mud and water underneath his boots. Shell-shaken, he sat against a large box of ammunition and weapons, motionless. A lit cigar hung loosely in between his lips. The buzz from the nicotine was the closest thing he'd get to any feeling..

The air was filled with the snaps and cracks of gun fire, a soldier was dragged by his vest to the med-bay, he was missing a leg. It was the perfect testament to wartime atmosphere. Dead soldiers, whizzing bullets above his head, constant gun-fire.. A jugheads dream.

He drew in one final drag, then flicked the half-burnt cigar into the muck. It's time.

The Imperia found itself on the losing end due to poor soldier distribution and flawed tactics. Lt. General Ambrose commanded a company of 3 platoons, divided 10, 15 and 30 into 3 different trench locations on the battlefield. A, B and C. Trench A held 15 soldiers however has recently been fully captured by the enemy. Trench B held 30 men, 11 KIA, 6 wounded and 13 active.

He raced through the trenches, all the way through till he found himself at the comm-center.

"Get me through to HQ private..!" snarling through clenched teeth, the Lt. General said

"I-I've been trying!! Comms are down" A shaken soldier said

"By the grace of law, get us through this god.. And my men!!? What are their current positions" He turned to ask another operative

"A recon squad from trench C reported circa 12 minutes ago, 3 of the 13 active on trench B were captured, the remaining 10 are in weapons bay."

A soldier hurley staggered his way inside the room, one hand braced against the wall, lungs heaving.

"Lieutenant General, permission to speak freely sir!" Out of breath, he forced the words out. He then pulled himself up, back pin straight, his hand raised to his head in a salute.

He nodded, hands clasped behind his back

"Lieutenant General sir, we've got to fall back into the trench C, the enemies have captured the north-western fort, a lot of our soldiers are captured and honestly most of our moral are on the low end.. I dont think these men can pull through."

For a moment, neither spoke; far-off gun fights echoed in their stead.

"Ride on horseback to trench C, tell them to bring all there men to B, we're going to make one last push. I'll lead us in."

"B-..But sir..!"

"That's a command soldier, we're done here."

He turned his attention towards the communications operatives.

"Fix comms, do your job."

The soldiers looked amongst one another, nodding in unison as they got to work.

30 minutes later..

The Lt. looked through a small crack in the trench bunker, for the past 30 minutes he stood there listening to the sounds of bullets knocking in the distance. The same soldier from before came into the room.

"Sir, the platoon form trench C have made their way here, they're ready to go.. are you sure you want to proceed with this..?"

"Tell them to gear up, we ride in 10."

"Sir." The soldier said in agreement

Lt. General Ambrose stormed out the room, a communications operative caught up with him and kept the pace up

"Sir, we've got the communications device up and running, we've identified 4 enemy locations, 2 major trenches and 2 minor forts. Which do you plan on taking on?"

"How much men are we?"

"20, sir."

"We're going for both major trenches."

"That's a suicide mission!"

"Like hell do I care.."

He stood before the entrance to the weapons bay, with every soldier’s attention fixed on him.

"Soldiers! We're going on what a few might call a suicide mission, communications operatives have identified 4 enemy locations, 2 major trenches and 2 minor forts. We're going to push into both major trenches and bomb it to hell!"

He paced back and forth, hands locked behind his back.

"That's right.. both major trenches.. Now here's what I want, I need all brave men who WANT to fight in the name of law to march behind me and spare NO one. If you lost a brother and want vengeance, FIGHT! If you have a family at home to protect, FIGHT! If you value honor and valor-"

He was cut short by a band of now patriotic men roaring, “FIGHT!”

"Now that's what I like to hear..! If you have something to fight for then you'll rush into those trenches and put a bullet in between the eyes of all those bastards. Now someone hand me a flag and lets ride!!"

Ride!

At the head of twenty riders, Lt. General Ambrose bore the flag, swaying it side to side with pride as they charged. Swear by the oath, live by the code. Successfully, without having been spotted, they flanked the first major trench and took the enemy by surprise, not one Law soldier was injured. With a will to fight, the men then made one final push to the final trench. Unfortunately the Lt. was shot dead in the heart but stood fighting for 40 minutes is what eye witnesses said. Yet his sacrifice was not in vain: the platoon seized the trench, suffering only one casualty—Lt. General Ambrose himself.

What was left of the enemy had surrendered without putting up a fight.

The state of Law Imperia had officially named the battle, The battle of Ambrose.
