Welp.
Here's my mess.

I chose Iceland as my country, and seeing how it's one of a handful of nordic countries, I immediately decided to go the mytholoy-route with my entry.
And when I think nordic mytholoy, I think valkyries.
Cause those things are neat.

To give you an idea as to what a valkyrie is, they were basically the grim reapers of nordic lore, choosing who lived and who died in battle. They would then take half the souls for themselves (the other half going to Freyja), and brought them to Valhalla, where they got drunk and partied hard until they were ready for Ragnarok, or the end of the world as I like to think of it. And to add to that, I've always thought valkyries to be strong, powerful, beautiful beings, which parallels what Iceland is quite nicely



I feel like this little tidbit of mythology, while certainly not capturing all of the mytholoy in it's entirety, gives you a glimpse of what Iceland was built on, and how it became what it is today. In my opinion, a country's history and mythology is the one of the biggest parts of what makes it it's own country.
