Made for the Embers of The Forge Jam 2022 (Placed 12th)
The Backstory:
Endura was born at a very young age to a family who lived in an End City.
Naturally, living in The End, the import costs of various metals are quite insane (especially in this economy) and as such, the material of choice for making weapons is a substance called Flux. Flux is extracted from triple distilled deep-fried Chorus Fruit and is responsible for the characteristic purple glow commonly associated with The End dimension.
Similar to how smiths in the overworld function, Endura and the other smiths of their dimension work with Flux, pounding it, tempering and reinforcing it though ancient(ish) techniques to create a material used for all manor of things.
Flux is incredibly water resistant, and hence very hard to get out of clothing. This is likely due to its origin from a dimension with no natural water sources. As such, Endura's gloves and apron are heavily lathered in the stuff.
The speam-punk-esk goggles and gold plated tools on their tool belt are for protection from the Flux. When heated, it produces a very very bright light, the goggles are tinted to help reduce vision loss (quite common among amateur Fluxsimths who sometimes are a little more fluid with OH&S policies). The gold plating helps reduce wear on tools caused by the ionisation of the light common on tools coated in lighter metals. Side effects of ionisation exposure include discolouration of eyes to a purple colour but Endura of course always wears their goggles so that could never happen... oh. Wait a minute...
Endura is a common Enderian name, a bit like the Overworldian name Alex except better cause it also has the meaning of To Persist (see Endura)
The Idea:
Heavily inspired by The Flux Buddies but obviously I made up a better story
Fluxsmith wasn't an option presented in the competition details but we can all agree its a pretty cool idea I'm sure

Gimme some feedback down below :)
