Holy wow, it's taken me a while to finish a skin... and this isn't even a full skin!!
Anyways, I've noticed that as I grow in skill level, my inspiration shifts from one person to another; my current obsession is Ellie (or Agatha here on PMC) XD
I thought I had pretty much mastered hair, able to do the hair swirlies a lot of my favorite skinners from a few years ago were famous for.
Turns out... I have not yet mastered hair, and so I intend to learn! >:3
Ellie is a really epic skinner overall! But I especially respect the way she does hair, and so I made this skin study to try and mimic how she does it.
What I've learned: she typically does light sourcing with *heavy* hue shifting, and she splits hair up into stands (which makes sense because you do that in normal art too)
She also does a lot of gradients, but I wasn't confident enough to try that XD
I also noticed she sprinkles in a lot of different hues; looking at pink hair, and then spot a green pixel, and I'm just sitting here like *how does it work so well?!*
I also wasn't confident enough to mimic that...
But I tried! And that's what counts, right? :3
Also, petition to make skin studies a thing!
