I would suggest first with practicing on shading until you got a good style. You could examine other user's skins, and see how they did theres. Never copy theirs, it'll get you in trouble of course.
Also, colors is very important. You need to pick the right colors to sync in with the rests, hue shifting is how you do this. It's a lil advanced so I would just work with scaling the colors up and down.
The shading is very messy as well, so try not to blob stuff on there. Also it doesn't really look like Eren, so make sure you use the right colors (such as Eren has brown hair/green eyes) For the skin, it's too yellow. Use something pale, also using the hat layer can make some really awesome stuff. Experimenting is always the best way to get started.

Also, my shading tutorial isn't about explaining shading, it's about showing how it can be done.
