Can you try turning this into 1.8? You can work wonders with the extra layers.

I will try, i'm not familiar with the new textures. Also i don't know where i can find a tool to add these extra layers.

If you have photoshop, you can edit in the extra layers. I've been doing some 1.8 skins, and the template is very helpful. The new skin file is 64x64, but be sure to look up tutorials.
