The year was 1954, just off the coast of Japan. The world had just seen the destructive power of the Atomic Bomb, and was mesmerized by it. A major world power had just developed a bomb of their own, and, heedless of the dangers to nearby inhabitants and the ecosystem, tested it by dropping it into the Pacific, near an island called Odo. The test was an unmitigated success, however, it had unforeseen consequences. Far beneath the ocean lay an enormous creature, an ancient monster of both land and sea. The great beast had slumbered peacefully in his underwater kingdom for eons, undisturbed by the progression of technology and advancement of human civilization. However, his peaceful existence was shattered by the dropping of the bomb, wrenching him from his home and his prehistoric sleep. The bomb's energy burned him, hurt him, mutated him. It was more pain than he had ever experienced. The monster grew huge, impossibly so, and huge bone plates jutted from his spine. He gained the ability to fire a concentrated stream of radiation from his mouth. When the beast recovered, he saw the devastation the bomb had wreaked in his ancient territory. All the life that had been abundant was now dead, burned by the bomb's flame-less fire. Enraged, he began to swim to the surface. He lashed out at the things that had tormented him, the tiny monsters who destroyed his peace. He is Gojira, Godzilla, king of the monsters, and he would show them his rage.



Godzilla then went on to become one of cinema's biggest (Ha! Puns.) stars, and had a film career that stretched for fifty years. He is my personal favorite character in all of cinema.
