The German Empire mobilized one of the greatest military forces in the world during the First World War. The German Army was famous for being one of the largest armies, and also the best trained, in the world. However, Germany's shortages of food, steel, and oil would eventually cripple their war machine and lead to a revolutionary overthrow of the Imperial Government in November of 1918.
