⚙ Journey ⚙
____________
This project is a culmination of sorts for me, and that's why I chose to name it Journey.
It's the end of the beginning of my journey as a skinner!
____________
I sort of began making skins as an experiment, I was 11 at the time and thought I could be some really cool skinner that everyone liked. This was after I gave up on being a youtuber (no equipment), a modder (too much work), a mapmaker (no talent) and virtually everything and anything else.
My style was pretty horrible. I just used Noise on a single color for each layer. I eventually got better at it, and even started making decent inventory icons. My skins were never very nice looking though, and I tried to learn how to shade but discovered it require a lot of effort and I was no good at it. I sent a message to a little known modder (Beardielover) asking if I could help with skins on his mod. I was a very naive kid, and to credit him, he put up with my horrible skins and childish nature. I had a blast working on the Ranger's Apprentice Mod with him, but never really had much evolution within my skinning style. He eventually got good enough at making skins that he didn't really need mine anymore, and we both eventually lost interest in the mod.
____________
In 2016, I sort of gave up skinning, now aged 15, to begin focusing more on school. I was getting pretty meh grades and my parents were more than a little pissed off. After that, I never really found the time or interest to boot up MCSkin3D and mess around. Fast forwards to a few days ago, and my friend showed me a screenshot of a skin I'd made for him a long time ago. I can't blame him for only having used it for a few months, as it was pretty bad and needed improvement. I decided to see what I could do to it, and started using some new techniques as I fooled around with it. I had been using the pre 1.8 steve model, and still using Noise as my main tool. That skin was so bad, it hurts my eyes!
____________
This is the culmination of a few days of work, and the evolution of my skinning style over the course of nearly 5 years. Sure it's not the best on PMC, but it's my way of saying thank you to all of those who continue to make great skins on this great website. And some special thanks to these people who have influenced my life for the better!
