Juma was born in Kush. Infant taken from mother gladiator - Slave raiders from Shem stole Juma as a child from his mother's arms. He worked for a time as a field hand on a Shemite farm. When his muscles began to develop and he was deemed a threat, he was sold as a gladiator to the arenas of Argos. Juma meets Conan while they are both in the Turanian escort responsible for taking Princess Zosara, daughter of king Yildiz, to an arranged marriage. He quicly became friends with Conan.
