As someone who uses this style of shading, I suggest using more contrast between the dark, light, and normal color. Otherwise, it will look just look like an unshaded skin. Good luck on your future skins!

You should just test different shading styles until you come up with one that you personally enjoy. It may take a while, but it's worth it.
