Lord Gawyn Of The Depths is one of the last few Elder Giants of Lorndea, once known as Lord Gawyn of the Sea. Thousands of years ago, this land was reached by an entire population of giants. It had four leaders, known as "Edvadir", which meant in their native language "Lords". The four Edvadirs were Balthazar Of The Flame, Ayleth Of The Gale, Yasohn Of The Marl and Gawyn Of The Sea.

Once the giants reached Lorndea they swore to the natives that they'd protect this land at any cost. In exchange, each lord was given a new palace, built by the most skilled builders from all around the continent.
For generations, the Lorndeians lived in peace with the giants. Yet, one day, Gawyn was strolling along the shore of Berea, the main river of the continent. There, he spotted Arthea, a nymph of the Gleamseeker's Valley. The giant fell in love, but the feelings were not reciprocated. Therefore, the giant decided to do something extraordinary.

He left Lordnea then headed East for a hundred years. He wanted to find Aurora's Blossom, a plant that could heal every creature, and it was sacred to the Fairies and Nymphs. Many knights tried to find it but none could face the difficulties on the way. Yet, the Edvardir found it and came back.
He found Arthea and then gave her the sacred plant. The nymph admired the dedication of the Edvadir and finally, the feelings were now mutual. The nymph joined the Giant on his court as his faithful wife and left the Valley.

The Nymph Mother could not accept this. She cursed the Giant and changed his appearance. No creature wanted to look at him, none, except for his wife. She tried to cure the monster but nothing could be done. Even the monster didn't want to look at himself. But this was not the tragedy's end. The Mother spread the voice among the most vigorous knights in the kingdom. The one to kill the giant will be the one to marry Arthea.

The knights surrounded the castle and proceeded to attack. The building received serious damage, but the giant managed to repel the warriors. One of them though, sir Destrian of Pavalthear, attacked the giant from behind and wounded him with his sharp sword. The giant fell from the pain and more men took advantage of this moment. But the fight was not over yet. The wife of the monster joined to protect the Edvadir. Many ran away, none died as a nymph shall not kill another creature. Destrian, however, did not run, commanded by his instinct, he rushed towards Arthea and brandished his sword. The pure blood dripped on the andesite tiles. Arthea groaned from pain, tried to stop the bleeding with her graceful hands, but it was too late. No spell could stop Death at that moment. She closed her eyes and embraced what had just happened. She fell on the floor and soon her pure white dress turned red. The furious giant grabbed the warrior with his massive hands and crushed him, filled with sorrow, fury and devastation.

The giant was now seen as a monster and could not stay on the shore. He took the body of his deceased wife and the flower he gave her long ago. He descended to the deep abyss of the Ocean and not many had ever seen him again.

Some say the giant leaves the cold waters to stroll on the shore, or sits on the cliffs to look at the moonlight.
Not many are brave enough to sail where the giant is said to stay. No man was ever able to cross those waters, as Gawyn Of The Depths sank each ship and devoured each sailor.
