This journal was found on the 10th of August. This is what it said.
January 9th, 1974
I approached the large forest, with my backpack on my back, ready for the hike. I had brought everything I would need to pass the Grimslain Forest. It was said to be one of the longest hikes in the state, but I was ready. I had brought 2 Loaves of Bread, some peanut butter, a cooler containing a few steaks, a fold up grill, some light fluid, and a bit of charcoal. I was nervous going in at first. The forest gave off an eerie feeling, the wind going through the branches of the trees made it sound as if they were warning me not to go in. Hesitantly, I walked into the forest, the darkness swallowing me as I walked in.
January 10th, 1974
So far, the trip has been great. I set camp up for the night under a large oak tree. The only downside is that I had a terrible nightmare. I was in the forest, running around, trying to run from a black being with disgustingly pinkish eyes. I was running as fast as I could, but as if from nowhere, there was a pond in front of me. I dived in, being greeted by demonic fish with hellish grins. The thing followed me in, but being a better swimmer than I, got me. After that, I woke up. Right now, I am heading to a clearing shown on the map. It is scattered with small ponds, said to be home of some rare species of frog, though I don't know what they are called.
January 11th, 1974
I went and checked out the clearing I wrote about yesterday. It was beautiful! It was scattered with greyish frogs with pale eyes. The frogs had a charming, yet eerie feel to them. I once again had the nightmare with the beast, but it was more vivid, almost as if it were happening. On another note, I found some bones, that looked almost human. At first I was concerned, but then I decided it was probably just a deer or something.
January 12th, 1974
Last night, before bed, I saw a shadow. It was shaped as a human, but moved incredibly fast. It also seems to glow in a pale color, with a tinge of pink. I was disturbed, as it reminded me of my dream. I can't seem to shake the feeling that someone is watching me....
January 13th, 1974
It's here. I saw it. The black being with the pale eyes, it isn't a dream. I narrowly escaped him, but it seems the cost is clear. I will get out of these woods as soon as it is light out, as the beast doesn't seem to appear then. Hopefully, I will get home safe an-
