Muriel Taggert is a witch from Fablehaven: one of the main characters.
Muriel used to be the wife of the Fablehaven caretaker. She was a mortal human until she got drawn to the dark parts of the forest, she became an apprentice to Bahaumat, a demon imprisoned in Fablehaven. Muriel's husband tried to help her but it was too late... So he imprisoned Muriel in a shack in the woods on the Fablehaven preserve, contained by a rope with thirteen enchanted knots tying her in. If you blow on the knot and say "of my own free will I sever this knot".
