I've never watched the Disney film Hercules (I did watch the 2014 movie starring Dwayne Johnson), but I admit, it fascinated me when I was young, and I still think it looks like a cool and funny movie (even if the portrayal of Greek mythology is inaccurate).

Anyways, here's the film's depiction of Nessus. From what I can tell judging by the images I've seen, Nessus (voiced by Jim Cummings) tries to kidnap Megara, but Hercules clobbers the brutish centaur.

In actual Greek mythology, Nessus fought against the Lapiths during the Centauromachy, and became the ferryman of the Evinos river. One day (which would also be his last), he offered to help Heracles and Deianeira get across the river. Stricken by Deianeira's beauty, Nessus decided to have her for himself, and nearly... gave her the "fate worse than death".

Fortunately, Heracles intervened, and mortally wounded the centaur with an arrow dipped in the poison of the Lernaen Hydra. As he laid dying, Nessus tricked Deianeira into mixing his blood into a robe for Heracles to wear, telling her that it would make her husband stay faithful, when in reality, he knew it would slowly kill him due to the poison. This would eventually lead to the death and immortality of Heracles.

Interestingly, Nessus is given a more benevolent (but still sadistic) portrayal in Dante Alighieri's Inferno. Here, Chiron (the most well-respected centaur) gives Nessus the permission to ferry Dante and Virgil across the Phlegethon (in Greek mythology, it's a river of fire; in the Inferno's case, it's boiling river of blood reserved for tyrants and murderers). Nessus does so, and points out certain people they pass by (ranging from people Dante knew personally, such as Ezzelino da Romano, to more infamously well-known dictators, such as Attila the Hun), as well as shooting arrows at those who try to get out of the Phlegethon. Eventually, they reach the second round of Hell's seventh circle (Violence), where the centaur leaves the two poets to continue their adventure, while he returns to his post.
