About Rán
Rán, a personification of the sea, is a goddess of Norse Mythology. Ægir, her husband, is a jötunn (a frost giant) who seems to also classify as a personification of the sea. Together, they have a total of nine daughters. Each and every single daughter they had personified the waves of the sea (nothing more, nothing less). On the other hand, she, in many depictions and poetry of her, is associated with nets. She often uses them to catch those who travel by sea. It turns out that most of the men who are caught end up drowning.
