Ri-présd

All the blood in my body ran towards my brain. The seat belt, tight and stuck, was the only support keeping me from thumping down onto shards of metal. Thick smoke filled my lungs as I gasped for air, noxious fumes quickly poisoning the blood that hadn't trickled down my skin. I became aware of the object protuding from my chest; sharp, jagged. I turned my head, images blurring as I moved. The body next to me fell and landed on the glass, blood pouring onto the street, mixing with metal and bitumen. My vision faded as I tried to understand what had occurred. Ears ringing, and my sight darkened by pain, I drifted in and out of consciousness. I saw the flash of a soft faded light that was emanating from the center of my view, red, blue, red, blue. Then white, before all consciouness departed my body and I was free.



They said it was a tragic accident. Rain mixed with oil.

They said it was a tragic accident. It wasn't. It was my fault.

Ri-présd : a spirit being, comprised of nothing, yet said to be the most powerful being in our world. Can change the soul of a person at a whim.

It slowly disarms its victim. Entering through the heart as the tiniest glimpse of hope, it soon turns sour and infects the soul with a powerful poison. Guilt starts to flow through the veins of the victim; it blames itself of sins it did not commit. Depression and listlessness follow in suit, anger close behind. The mind of the victim snaps, it can no longer survive the pain of the emotions being forced upon it. To ensure its survival, Ri-présd controls the actions and expressions of its host. To hide the crippling fear expanding throughout the victim, it conceals the pain by forcing the victim to perform an act of happiness and content. Ri-présd and its emotions consume the soul and spirit of the victim, leaving an empty husk of a person inside.
