The sun beat down on the desert. A form started to rise from the dune, a tight vortex of sand as whipped by wind. But not a whisp of breeze blew by in the stifling heat. The form grew bigger and moved with a purpose. I abandoned the animals in hid in the mouth of a cave. I poked my head in time to see sand shift as figure sunk out of sight. When I returned to the site, all the remained were a few bones worn and white, a couple of scraps of metal, the pitted remains of my gear.
