The wind was blowing harder than usual for the crew of the Midnight Sun. The storm had knocked off one of the sailors into the thick fog below. Within the Captain's quarters, a young sailor of only 14 was begging to turn the ship around.
"Sir, if we continue, the storm will kill us all!" he cried out, on his knees.
"Listen here, boy. In order to get the Eye of the Storm, we must travel through. I want to see this Siren's Landing for myself," the old Captain grumbled, irritated.
"Your little eye doesn't exist, and neither does the island! They are lies!"
"Don't you speak to your captain that way! And the island does exist, I've seen it with my own two eyes," the captain leaned down into the young sailor's face, wise brown into worried green.
During this conversation, another sailor was dumping his recent lunch into the choppy water. He leaned over the edge, regretting the fact he joined on the voyage to discover the Siren's Landing.
When he had finished, he stared into the deep water to discover a pale, hideous face dripping with blood from its eyes, which, by the way, were stitched closed.
The thing hissed a song not unlike a dragon's roar. The sailor clamped his hands over his ears, screaming in pain. He backed up, but he went to far, falling over the edge into the water. The song kept going, though, and soon many sailors had dropped into the water, but not the sailor and captain who were arguing.
"Captain? What was that?" the boy asked, running to the window to stare into the stitched eyes of a pale, hideous monster with chopped short brown hair. Her colors were muted. Seaweed as attached to her hands and arms, trying to pull her back down into the water.
"There she is. There's my girl," the Captain spoke coolly, as if the creature in the window was just a small kitten. He went ahead and opened the window, and the Siren passed through into the room, the temperature immediately dropping.
"You left me to die after blinding me and tossing me to the Sirens!" she hissed, pointing a shaky, clawed finger to the captain.
"I know, my dear. But one sacrifice is greater than many," he responded.
"Fathers don't leave their daughters to haunt Siren's Landing!" the monster screeched.
"That's why I have come. I am to find the Eye of the Storm, and bring you back home, Penelope," the Captain sighed, running his fingers through his long salt-and-pepper hair.
"The Eye of the Storm does not exist! That stone was destroyed long ago, when I drowned in the seas and the sirens turned my spirit into this!" she wailed. "You cannot bring me back with it!" her orange tail grabbed the young sailor and tossed him out the window.
"You want me dead, don't you?" the Captain whispered, staring at his daughter's ruined face.
"You are coming with me," and the orange tail took the captain, and the spirit along with the mortal jumped into the freezing sea.


Hundreds of years later, thousands of sailors had tried to find the Siren's Landing, only to be murdered by the spirit of Penelope or the living sirens.
