The snowy owl (Bubo scandiacus) lives in the arctic tundra. They can vary from almost pure white, to gray mottled, to black scalloped. I chose to make this one black scalloped to give it some texture. Stripes and feathers are always a challenge. If you like owls, you should also check out my great horned owl skin.

The pure whitish tail wasn't working for me - I added shaded striping.

This is fantastic! I love the skins you make! Would you consider doing a barn owl? I'm curious to see what you would come up with.

I've looked for a good while for owlskins and this by far is the best skin i have ever seen excellent job :) it definately deserves a diamond in my book.

Thanks for the suggestion. Working with variations of black is very hard. Perhaps someday I will attempt it.
