to me he just looks darker than a regular white person, also the minecraft wiki says (unless it's been updated since i last checked) "Steve has dark brown hair, brown skin, and blue eyes" so yeah :D

Well he has a darker skin than Alex, so I guess yeah :P Also as minecraft wiki says: "Steve has dark brown hair, brown skin, and blue eyes, with a light blue shirt (un-tucked on the left hand side and in the back), a pair of blue jeans, and gray shoes.."

The darker hue of his skin could also be dirt. Remember he spends his days mining beneath the ground and in the mud.

But what about Alex? Alex is basically tha same as Steve, so wouldn't that mean that they both would have the same skin colour?

Alex's skin doesn't have any hints of dirt on it, does it?
Of course, Steve might as well be Swedish since Mojang is Swedish.
