In year 2015, the world was being hit by atomic blasts at all of its corners.
The great powers of the East and the West were fighting each other again, like one century before.
Scientists were testing mutations in their hidden underground laboratories, trying to create stronger soldiers by feeding them genetically modified foodstuffs.
The World was falling on itself, destroying itself.
One day a bomb hit a base, causing tubes full of experimental liquids to break and to spread their content all over the rooms.
The place was than left abandoned, as military forces had to keep all their power on still working war camps.
No one knew that that was a laboratory, and poor, homeless people wondered by eating all the food they found, food that had been contaminated.
This caused bloodcurdling pain to those wonderers, horrible wounds, that led them to an extreme transformation.
The mutant food had taken over the human part of the DNA, turning people into... carrots.
They could walk, talk, move like humans but with the consistency of a vegetable, thus being fragile, but extremely strong.
Nothing of the human mind was left in these absurd creatures, who, tired of seeing normal food being eaten all the time,revolted. They started eating people, hunting them and than cooking them, mocking their appearence, dressing like them.
Most mutant carrots liked dressing up as butchers, a job that hadn't been existing since the atomic war started, but that was a clear memory for food creatures.
This is how reality got twisted. Vegetables took control of towns, than nations, and when humanity was confined and bred as foodstuffs, they owned the entire planet Earth.
By yar 2065, humans had been sterminated, and mutant carrots, not wanting to eat eachother, slowly died of hunger, leaving the planet to its animal inhabitants, like thousands of years before.
