Level 18 : Journeyman Narwhal

After a period of deep sleep that felt like an eternity of emptiness without thought, the being awoke in a haze of a warm, glowing, fluid. Once his eyes adjusted, he could see that he was within a large glass cylinder. While he could not make out the details outside other than the bright lights that flickered as slinking figures out in the black void broke their reassuring glare, he knew immediately where he was. In his time, the aftermath of a technological global war led to the end of the standard soldier. Automation and drone units, along with massively destructive weapons left infantry and other combat personnel useless. The art of physical combat was all but lost, but it was still useful to underground crime syndicates which still required loyal and skilled men to assassinate targets quietly and cheaply. He himself was one of the last veterans left of the global war. For fear of being turned into mindless zombies by these mobs, many soldiers had killed themselves, however, a well kept secret was that the crime organizations did not only have mind control, but also the ability to reanimate recovered bodies. Being officially dead, these soldiers were not the concern of anyone alive, other than these criminal elements. This particular man, fearing his ultimate destiny committed suicide to escape what he thought was a fate worse than death. Fortunately, his mind was naturally immune to the chemical used for mind control. Once the technicians drained the tank, freed him from the tubes, and attempted to converse with him, he struck with the tools he gave him: Cybernetic enhancements on his forearms and an implanted power generator with enough of the mysterious and powerful fluid to fuel his escape. With no affect on his mind, he held nothing back: striking out and killing every one of the scientist out of pure anger and remorse for the friends he had lost to these fear mongers. Once he escaped from the underground prison, leaving no survivors, he vowed to hunt down leaders of the major crime organizations in order to make them feel the fear and sense of despair that he and those close to him had felt. Refusing to work with the corrupt policing forces of the world, he became known as the 'Reanimated Ronin,' bowing to no master other than his own sense of justice.
