Meet the Virtual Space and World Wide Web Explorer, or the "Internet Explorer" for short (pun intended).
He makes his way through virtual reality, studying the behaviours of data as it moves through the extreme vastness that is the World Wide Web.
Originally only a test to see if the human mind could be projected into a virtual avatar that would be able to search the Web in the same way someone would browse a shop or a mall. All went well and the test results were positive, but after the controller was unplugged and their mind left virtual reality, the avatar kept moving.
The controllers concious mind had been copied into the program, giving life to what was essentially an AI. The system was disconnected from the web to prevent the AI from escaping, but he made it through just before the last computer was unplugged.
So now he roams the World Wide Web, studying data, running from search programs designed to find him and causing chaos for people whose computer he might find himself on.
