I used MCSkins3D RBGA color palette and lowered the A really low i'm not sure if it appears clear but it did for me when i used to play Minecraft a lot but it might of been like a optifine thing but i honestly don't know. If clear textures don't work on hats anymore or if i was just imaging you could do what i did with my unfinished skins which is find a color of that some what looks like a glaze over the eyes so it looks like it has lens.
