Some time ago, there was a post on the minecraft forums website featuring a new lava animation, free for anyone to add to their packs.
This was before resource packs replaced/updated texture packs.
The textures were never updated for newer versions of minecraft, as far as I am aware.
I had downloaded them, intending to make an update, but I never did due to the confusing/tedious process that it would've been.
Then, at some point, the entire thread has also disappeared.
Luckily, I still had the files..
It would be much appreciated if anyone could provide a current user profile for the original submitter.
I have updated these textures as of 2020, but I got busy/distracted and never released them.
Just as the original, you are welcome and encouraged to use this as a stand-alone pack or integrate it into your own
Remember to follow the terms of the Creative Commons license I added, though
Ignoring changes to the mcmeta file formats, this pack should actually be compatible all the way back to 1.6.1
At the very least, the textures, themselves, should be compatible.
Anyways, several years/versions too late... (does anyone besides me remember/care?)

My screenshots : I never actually succeeded yet in finding or making a test world for resource packs. I agree it would be better to see the lava in caves or the nether instead of by itself. Just bear with me for the time being, I just don't have the time or energy I would prefer to be dedicating to this, and all my projects/hobbies.

and thanks i suppose, but all i did is update it for newer versions and put it in its own pack
i wouldn't even know if the site this came from is still around since the post linking it is gone /:
also, interestingly enough, thought of a reason to bring the camera in as a permanent feature
use it to re-create the same perspective for a screenshot, which is great for showcasing stuff
anyways, there's 5 more versions yet to be [re-]released!
