When I moved to Java from bedrock, I really missed the muddy edges on path texture
- so here's my own version with some richer browns 😊🌻

Needs Optifine - Or Continuity (for fabric)

The CTM took some brain gymnastics, but here it is! :D
Oh, and it needs Optifine or Continuity (fabric version) after 1.16.5.

Installing
  • This pack will work in later Java versions, I've tested as far back as 1.16.5 successfully
  • This is a resource pack, so you need to enable it in options/resource packs tabs (in game menu)
  • Place this pack at the top of your resource packs (top ones get priority)

Does it need optifine?

It mostly works without it - only single path blocks look darker (without the lighter blending in the middle). The first 2 gallery images were taken in 1.16.5 without optifine.

I've done some more checks - 1.16.5 works mostly, but 1.19 needs optifine or Continuity (a fabric version of optifine) to work.

i think i noticed the difference, and i see effort has been put into it and it looks better than before, but smooth lighting kind of already does something like that

Thankyou! 😊 For me vanilla smooth lighting didn't change the paths in open places - but I have sodium so there's less options. Shaders gives a small shadow from the light path side, but not really a muddy edges effect.
I made this so that paths work on their own, without the need for 'texturing' with other blocks
