Enhanced Books [Optifine]

If anyone else is bothered by the lack of spaces between any and all text as a result of a version issue (I'm using 1.19.4 Java Edition on Windows), you can fix this by adding the code below to the "default.json" file in the pack folder.

In version 1.20.x, the code below is handled by a file named "space.json", so this fix isn't needed for that version (which this pack was intended for.) However, I discovered this pack from Faithful's add-on list and the intended version wasn't listed when I chose it. I enjoy using this pack, so I decided to make the changes below so that it could be compatible with 1.19.4.

(I would upload this change to my profile for an easy download, but it would be against the rules for resource pack submission since it's such a minor fix.)

This code is normally found in the following directory:
..\.minecraft\versions\1.19.4.jar\assets\minecraft\fontI just copied and pasted it. You can view this code for yourself by either unpacking the jar file with 7-zip or opening the jar file with 7-zip.

The code below was originally missing in this resource pack's version of the default.json file due to the versioning issue mentioned above. Without it, Minecraft has no reference for the "space" character, so it doesn't put spaces anywhere. For example, the phrase "Fire Protection 4" becomes "FireProtection4."

Rather than tell you exactly how to edit the code without breaking it, I've copied my fixed (and cleaned up) version into the spoiler below. To fix the spacing issue, follow these steps:

1. 1. First, make a copy of this resource pack in case something breaks.
   2. Navigate to the folder containing this resource pack. If it's still in a zip folder, you must unzip it before continuing with this fix or else you won't be able to edit the code.
   3. Click into the folders named "assets", then "minecraft", then "font", just like the directory above.
   4. Open the file named "default.json" with any text or code editor of your choice (e.g., Notepad, VS Code, etc.) Code editors are preferred, but text editors will do just fine.
   5. In my comment, open the spoiler below, click into the code section, and press CTRL+A to select all of the code. Make sure you have only selected the code and not my entire message or else something is bound to break when it's copied into the file. With all of the code (and only the code) selected, press CTRL+C to copy it.
   6. In your text/code editor with the "default.json" file open, press CTRL+A and then CTRL+V to paste the code you just copied from my message. If something goes wrong, you should be able to press CTRL+Z to undo the changes.
   7. Save the changes. Congrats! Your game is now readable with this resource pack activated!

Feel free to message or report me if I've somehow hacked into your system (or other outlandish results) with this fix haha. The only changes I've made were formatting and the inclusion of the space type. All of the custom changes made by this resource pack to this file are still present. Reply below or message me if you'd also like to know how to capitalize all of the enchantment names in English!

um , im playing in 1.19 optifine and it seems all the books in the book cases are backwards. other than that small problem the pack is really cool!

I love how the books are 3D and have a multiple set of textures
