With this high quality resource pack, you can now make better cacti by using green glazed terracotta.
There's really not much to say about this. I just replaced the green glazed terracotta texture with the vanilla cactus one and slightly edited it so it fits the full 16x16 grid. Edit it for your own cactus textures if you want, this took me all of 5 minutes to make.
Edit the pack.mcmeta with your version number to use it on your version of Minecraft.
UPDATE
I've made two extra versions that include prickly pears. These replace sweet berry bushes.
If you have Optifine or Continuity on Fabric, you can download the Optifine version and only have the prickly pear cacti appear in the desert and badlands biomes. You can edit this by going into the optifine folder until you get to the properties files and adding whatever biomes you like (just make sure to use an underscore for spaces, and separate biomes with a space).
