this pack only alters the item's appearance, the recipe will remain unchanged in whatever version you are playing.

In that case you might run into the issue of the pack's format not being the same as the one for the snapshots. Dont worry tho, all it takes to fix that is to unzip the pack, update the max version to the pack format of the snapshot, and then crompress the files once more into a ZIP file.
