I haven't tested this pack in-game, so I am not sure if this is the problem, but have you tried disabling ambient occlusion to try and fix the lighting bug?

I think it’s just the way Minecraft’s lighting works since it also happens with snow layers if you extend the model downwards

Additionally, you see it in stuff like stairs and slabs if they're lit up, which is a cool effect. To be honest, let's do a Mojang and say it's WAI because fireflies or something are in the moss! =P
